Guitars
-
2013 Gibson Les Paul Studio
The Les Paul Studio is a great choice for getting that Les Paul tone without spending the money for the Standard. Mine has BurstBucker Pro pickups.
-
2022 Fender American Pro ii Telecaster
Great sounding and super versatile telecaster. Has some nice upgraded features from previous models. This is likely my forever Telecaster!
-
2020 Fender Player Precision Bass
It’s really hard to beat the P Bass sound! It’s a simple tone machine that just sits in the mix! I use this in all my full song recordings.
-
1997 Ibanez Talman
This was my dream guitar in college, but could’t afford it Found one years later. It’s the only one I’ve ever seen. Put Phat Cats in it for P90-ish tones.
-
1995 Fender Squier Stratocaster
My first real guitar! Got it back in high school. Fun fact: it’s a Squier, but it says Fender and is MIM (made in Mexico)!
-
2000 Seagull M6
A little beat up but it’s still kicking and use it whenever I need to record acoustic. Also but an LR Baggs Anthem pickup in it for songwriter nights.
Amp and Pedals
-
Mesa Recto-Verb 25
Super versatile and covers all of my multiple personality styles that I like to play: country to classic rock to heavy pop punk!
-
Fender 1x12 Cab
The Fender Hot Rod Deluxe 1x12 Extension Cab is a great balance between the tight tone of a closed cab and portability.
-
TC Electronic PolyTune 3
Super fast and accurate. Has a buffer and you can daisy chain power to another pedal from it. Super cool tuner!
-
Wampler Tumnus Deluxe
Killer sounding Klon clone with extra tone shaping options. Has the original Tumnus graphic with the light up lamp post!
-
Catalinbread Formula No. 55
Super inspiring 5E3 tweed circuit in a pedal. Turns my Mesa into a country and rock & roll tweed machine! Plus it just looks really cool!
-
Wampler Plexi Drive Mini
Classic vintage Marshall in a box. Small form factor with bass and mid switches. Pairs nicely with my Les Paul!
-
Electro-Harmonix Canyon
I mainly use the tape delay as a slap back, but there are tons of crazy cool and useful delay options. Lots of tweakability with submenu parameters.
-
Walrus Audio Monument V2
Full featured trem pedal with harmonic tremolo option. Adds an very cool character to lead and melody parts.
-
TC Electronic Hall of Fame v1
I’ve had this for a long time. It sounds great and does everything I need. Never felt the need to get anything else.
-
Xotic EP Booster
Simple boost pedal with some tone options under the hood with the dip switches. Mostly have used it to beef up my Tele sound.
-
TC Electronic Spark Mini Boost
As simple as it gets, turn it up, it gets louder and/or pushes the front of your amp. Small, affordable, and does the thing.
Microphones
-
Shure SM7b
This an amazing vocal mic. Especially for rock and raspy vocals. Clients love the way is sounds. And it looks kind of cool too!
-
Shure SM57
An affordable standard and classic dynamic microphone that is used in professional studios and home studios around the world!
-
Audio-Technica AT4040
Great budget large diaphram condenser microphones. I’ve had a pair for at least 20 years now and still use them regularly for acoustic guitar and drum overheads.
-
AKG D112
I’ve had this kick drum mic for forever. The new version has a much better mic clip. The D112 is a standard that works great inside the kick.
-
Sennheiser e604 (x3)
Some people talk down on these mics. Some people love them. They are convenient to use and I regularly receive complements on tom sounds.
-
Oktava MK-012
Cool little small diaphram condenser mics. They are great for an XY stereo setup. I’ve used them that way for acoustic guitar and drum overheads.
Recording Gear
-
Focusrite Clarett 8Pre
There’s a newer version, but this one’s a great sounding interface with great features! The selectable AIR feature sounds great and easy routing options.
-
Focusrite Saffire OctoPre MK II
This only gets used when tracking drums and I need the extra inputs. It’s a good sounding interface that does what I need and never lets me down. They’re super affordable these days.
-
Yamaha HS8 Studio Monitors
Great speakers that I find easy to track and mix with. Plenty of power and just enough low end. These have served me well for quite a few years now.
YouTube
-
Canon EOS R
I’ve had this camera for quite awhile. Shoots great video and is perfect for my portrait photography as well.
-
Canon EF 24-70mm f/4
It’s an older lens and you can’t get it new any more, but it’s a really good one that was a reasonable price. You can still get the f/2.8 version though!
